The Challenge
A new brand for electrical engineering services and projects is born. In a sector that is naturally lacking in differentiation, why not seek a name with projection, identity, and the ability to become a focal point for a shared culture?
Onzem
Ultimately, the most important role was to demonstrate the project’s capabilities beyond those of the founder.
We opted for an abstract name that could embrace various meanings and have positive affinities for the sector, while moving away from more traditional codes. This allowed us to prioritize trademark and domain availability.
It was key to find a technological nod that would not limit future projects.
Incorporating a z sound was desirable, as it conveys technology, speed, and the evocation of electricity.
The brand begins with “on”: electricity flowing, activation—one of the most positive meanings possible.
The name sounds like “eleven” in Catalan, which alludes to football and teamwork.
The ending in “m,” in Catalan, creates the feeling of a verb in the first-person plural of the present indicative. Something that is done as a team.
A “z” in the middle of the word alludes to a technological hum, speed, and efficiency.
Strengths of Onzem as a brand name
With a .com domain fully available without additions, it represents a step forward for engineering consultancy names, which tend to be patronymic and descriptive.
